Home remedies for Asthma

Most of us spend a large amount of time at home which is why it is very important that we make sure that the living environment is free of any asthma triggers. Pets can very often be a problem and it is best if possible to avoid having pets that can aggravate the condition. It is not their fur as most believe that is the main problem, but dander, which is dead, dry skin that flakes off, just like dandruff.

This is a very powerful allergen. Dust mites are another powerful asthma trigger. Mold and other similar fungal growths are also known to be a very big problem as the spores through which they reproduce float through the air.

Pollen that is released by plants and trees is another common trigger for asthma attacks.

There are many natural remedies that can help, but they are not an alternative to the prescribed course, but instead help them. It is also believed that caffeine that is present in regular coffee is quite effective in the prevention and control of asthma attacks. Caffeine also has bronchodilating effects, but is best avoided for children.

Onions are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. They can reduce the constriction of the airways that is common in an asthma attack. While consuming raw onions can be a problem to some, even cooked onions help to reduce asthma attacks.
