Natural Cures for Kidney Stones
In many cases of kidney stones, no medical intervention or other treatment is necessary to get rid of the stones - they are passed in the urine, sometimes painlessly, and at other times somewhat painfully. Therefore the best thing to do if you have kidney stones is to drink plenty of water, at least two liters a day. This increases urination and thus helps you to pass the stones in your urine, and also dilutes your urine, thus preventing the stones from becoming larger.
The larger a stone is, the more difficult it will be for you to pass it in your urine, and the more likely will be the need for some medical treatment.
However, whether or not treatment is needed or not, it is always better to visit a doctor because it helps to know what caused the stone. This will help you prevent a recurrence of the problem, possibly by modifying your diet or lifestyle, or addressing some underlying medical problem.
If you are not able to pass the stone on your own, or if you are experiencing severe pain, possibly along with other symptoms such as fever, you should visit a doctor. In such cases, the stone may need to be removed using shock waves or minor surgery.
