How to Treat Burn - Burn First Aid Treatment for burns depends on what caused the burns as well as the severity of the burns. You have not mentioned how you got burnt or how severe your burns are. Only minor burns can be treated at home; more severe burns or even minor burns in a sensitive area such as the face of genitals, should always be treated by a doctor, and replacing medical treatment with home remedies is quite dangerous.
For any burn, the first thing you need to do is stop the burning process. You can cool fire burns (or burns from steam or hot water) with cool water; for chemical burns too, if the chemical is a liquid you should use running water to wash it off your skin for at least ten minutes. (Note however that certain chemicals such as hydrochloric acid will react badly with water, so if you don't know how what the chemical is or how it will react, it is best to simply call for help.) If the chemical is a powder, you should dust it off thoroughly, and if possible and safe to do so, wash it off.
First aid is most important for burns — later all that is needed is too keep it clean, and if necessary run cool water over it several times a day. You can also use an over the counter.
