Your question is extremely vague - foot pain can be of several different kinds and can be experienced in many different parts of the foot. The foot is only one part of the body, but pain can affect only a certain area of your foot: the arch, the heel, your toes, your ankle - there are plenty of muscles, bones, and joints in the foot, and any of them could be effected. It is therefore difficult to diagnose what your ailment is and to give you any suggestions to treat it.

Among the most common foot problems is plantar fasciitis, which affects the band of tissue connecting the heel to the front of the foot. This tissue, known as the plantar fascia, sometimes becomes rigid and painful, making it difficult to walk. If this is the case, you should wear footwear that provides adequate support to your arches and also gently stretch your feet everyday, focusing on the plantar fascia.

When the pain bothers you too much, you can use a cold compress; this should work even if the cause of the pain is something other than plantar fasciitis.

If the cause is a past injury then you will quite certainly be aware of this yourself. What you will need to do is let your doctor know about the pain and the injury; he or she will probably ask you to observe the foot for a while, and if there is no improvement, will suggest some physiotherapy.
