Infections from piercing are unfortunately quite common despite the fact that they can very easily be prevented. It is very important to keep the area clean and only use sterilised instruments. A very common symptom of a ear infection caused by piercings is a high fever, and it needs to be addressed with particular seriousness if it reaches 103 degrees.

The pain and irritation from ear infections can be quite sever causing great discomfort and therefore disrupting and affecting sleep as well.

Antibiotics are very effective for a bacterial infection, and are necessary for a sever infection. There are also several home remedies that you could try.

Vitamin C and zinc are extremely effective against contagions and for the ear ache and pain. Echinacea is regarded as an excellent treatment for a ear infection. Colloidal silver can also be used as a ear wash as it is very effective and provides relief from the earache. Using an antiseptic ear rub would also be a very good idea as it kills the harmful bacteria and can also be very soothing. You can also use onions as another remedy. Use the onions to make a warm poultice and the pain from the infection will be relieved within just a few minutes.
