The collection of fluids in the cells in the soft tissues of the body is known as Edema. This is the medical term for it and the disorder can occur anywhere in the body. The real cause of edema is actually something to worry about rather than just the fact of the fluid accumulation. This is because one a person gets edema it usually is a indication or early warning sign that a far more serious illness like-diabetes, AIDS infection or cirrhosis of the liver. There fore edema is dangerous in the fact that it means you might develop a life threatening disease in the future.

The symptoms for edema are heat, tenderness of the area. The occurrence of swelling and fluid in the arm of the patient is common occurrence and may also occur in the ankle, abdomen or leg. The face also becomes puffy and the shoes that you use never properly. The swelling is basically caused due to the over build up of fluid in the tissues and is generally not located to one position in the body. Therefore the edema itself is not dangerous but is indicative of a larger medical ailment that can be serious and damaging to your health if left untreated.
