UTI Natural Treatment
Cranberries and cranberry juice are a very popular home remedy when treating urinary tract infections (UTIs), and the treatment is indeed effective to an extent. There are indications that certain compounds in cranberries prevent the growth of bacteria in the bladder and thus help fight the infection. On the other hand however, many people are of the opinion that cranberry juice does nothing to fight the actual infection and its use is only to ease the symptoms of a UTI. As a result, you might end up feeling better as long as you drink cranberry juice daily, but in the meanwhile the infection might remain or even get worse. It is therefore a good idea to stop drinking cranberry juice after three days; if the burning sensation and pain are still present, you should visit a doctor immediately. UTIs normally disappear within two are three days at the most; in the meanwhile, you should drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and sugar as far as possible. If after three days the infection persists, medical treatment is necessary. A UTI itself is a mild infection, but if it remains untreated for long it could become quite severe and even spread.
