Causes and Home Remedies for Proteinuria and Diabetes Care The condition wherein urine contains a huge amount of protein is medically referred to as proteinuria. Usually, proteins stay on in the blood as it passes through the kidneys for waste matter filtration. This is because the kindey filters, also known as glomeruli are designed big enough to filter off the waste matter in the blood. The proteins are too big to pass through the glomeruli. However, if the glomeruli is damaged, the proteins sail into the urine and thus leads to an increase in protein levels in the urine. This condition has been medically proven to be brought upon by diabetes, hypertension and other kidney diseases. Cardiovascular diseases are also known to be responsible for causing proteinuria. Damaged blood vessels see to it that you suffer a heart failure and the heart failure in turn sees to it that you suffer a kidney failure. Proteinuria also has very noticeable symptoms. Excess protein usually imparts a foamy appearance to the urine. Since protein is low in the blood circulating in your system, the blood cannot soak up fluids. Consequently, you may notice swellings around your face, abdomen, feet and hands.
To tackle proteinuria, you will have to keep diabetes under control. And to do so, you will have to keep your blood glucose as well as your blood pressure under control. A healthy well-balanced diet and plenty of exercise also go a long way to deal with proteinuria.
