The most common anxiety related disorder that people suffer from is generalized anxiety disorder. People who display symptoms of the disorder always tend to anticipate disasters and worry about everyday issues like health, family, work, money, or school. Their worries are unrealistic and disproportionate to the situation. This condition then begins to spiral out of control, interfering with and disrupting the individual's work, studies, relationships and social activities.

The best and most commonly used treatment is cognitive behavioural therapy, and can be either individual or group therapy. The focus is on changing behavioural patterns and cognition or maladaptive thinking patterns. The individual is also urged to confront and face his fears in a controlled environment. Medications like antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs, and beta-blockers can also be used, but they are best avoided and are mostly a short term temporary solution.
One of the most effective home remedies is plain simple exercising. This not only facilitates physical relaxation, but also helps overcome stress. Secretion of serotonin, which is important to feelings of happiness, is also enhanced through exercising. Playing sports and taking long walks can also help a lot. A healthy nutritious diet also goes a long way to helping with the problem as there are a number of foodstuffs like cloves, thyme, lavender, hops, etc. that help. It's essential to think about and focus on areas of interest and pleasant thoughts.
