Treatment for Back Muscle Cramp
Muscle cramps are caused by muscle spasms. Although you may want to "wait it out", Chronic back pain will not subside in time. In fact, neglecting this condition can cause your problem to escalate to a level where you require almost complete bed rest.
Acute back pain is a very sharp stabbing pain (or in rare cases a dull ache) in the lower part of the back. Although this condition can be rather severe and can cause acute pain, with treatment you can expect a total recovery within a couple of weeks. Acute back pain is a short term pain that generally last anywhere from a day to a few weeks.
Chronic back pain on the other hand is more troublesome as it lasts for months or even years causing the patient to lose flexibility and interfering with the simplest daily functional activities. Chronic back pain is tougher to treat as it is often difficult to determine the exact cause.
You can use a cold compress to ease the pain followed by a warm compress to increase blood flow and reduce inflammation. If this problem persists, visit your doctor who will be able to determine both the type of back pain as well as the treatment for it. The common tests for back pain include a CAT scan, an MRI and a myelogram.
