Advice on Periods after Pregnancy

It is common for a woman to take six weeks or so to have her first post partum period and it rare cases it can take even eight to ten weeks. Although it is not unheard of, it is extremely rare for a post partum woman to miss her cycle for over six months. A post partum period signifies that your body is recovering from your delivery and that your reproductive organs are resuming their regular functions.

Although you have not had your regular period this does not meant that you are not fertile. You would need to consult a doctor who would be able to advise you as to your course of action.

Although you have not mentioned your age, I'm presuming that you are less than forty years old, since you have obviously not considered the possibility of menopause.

However, there is a possibility that this could be early menopause. Early menopause can be due to various factors including premature ovarian failure. If you recall any point of time after the birth of your daughter that you had hot flashes and night sweats, it is quite probable that you might have an early menopause. Early menopause generally affects women in their early thirties.
