My friend has pyorrhoea and I am concerned about myself as recently I got sore gums and slight bleeding. My breath does not smell but if I rub my gums they smell revolting have I got it are you likely to catch it from kissing

Alternative Treatment for Gum Infection

Theoretically, a gum infection could be transmitted by kissing, but this is not very likely, especially if your own dental hygiene is up to the mark. However, whether or not you were infected by kissing your friend, what seems quite certain is that you do have some kind of gum disease. It will therefore be a good idea for you to visit a dentist for diagnosis and treatment.

You should do this as soon as possible, as such problems are easiest to treat soon after they have developed. Since you have noticed the symptoms of soreness and bleeding only recently, it is likely that your infection is quite mild and will be successfully treated in a very short time, so there is no real need for you to worry.

Also, pyorrhea is not the only possibility — there are several other gum disease that also have similar symptoms, and many of them are quite mild and are very easily treated.

You should therefore not get too concerned, but be sure to make a dentist's appointment in the next few days. Although brushing, flossing, and other dental hygiene measures can help, it is not always possible to treat gum disease at home, and it is better to be on the safe side in case the infection is severe.
