Painful ankle advice

My grandma is 70+ and is suffering with a strange kind of pain in the ankle. According to her, the pain starts in lower back and continues till the heel of the foot. The heel also gets numb and causes frequent cramps. Is this rheumatism or arthritis?

Painful ankle advice

I am afraid it is a little difficult to recognize and diagnose your grandma's condition without a physical examination. Very often people find that as their age advances they experience various aches and pains. These could be related to some other medical condition.

On the other hand they could simply be an indication from nature that their body is old and tired and requires rest. Since your grandmother is over seventy years old, this is a distinct possibility. However, you should ensure that your grandmother sees a medical practitioner as soon as possible.

You can suggest that your grandma get a pair of shoes that fit her right. If she spends a lot of time on her feet, suggest that she take frequent breaks and sit down. Also ensure that she does not remain seated in the same position for too long. Instead, you should encourage your grandmother to take small walks or simply stand up to keep the circulation of blood regulated.
