Ginger is also an important ingredient in alternative medicine. Ginger tea is one of the most effective ways to treat a bad cold or sore throat. Chopped or grated ginger is added to water. The water is boiled and the tea is strained. In some cases honey is added as a sweetener.
Ginger is also an important ingredient in a herbal infusion made to soothe an upset stomach. Ground ginger is mixed with the juice of lemons and sweetened with sugar. This drink can also be preserved.
