Infant colic home cures

Colic is the term used to define the condition in which a healthy infant keeps crying frequently and inexplicably. There is no known cause for colic but it has been suggested that is caused by pain that begins in a baby's intestine. This pain could be due to trapped digestive gas but there is no evidence to prove this theory.

Colic usually begins within the first weeks of the child being born and then disappears. It manifests itself again when the child is a few months older.

There is no known or accepted medical cure for colic.

It is believed that this condition might be untreatable and it is best that it runs its course. Colic is more common in babies that have been bottle-fed and it might be a good idea to begin breast feeding your child. Fennel is a very common herbal remedy to cure colic. Dill and chamomile are also used to soothe digestive problems and giving your infant gripe water that contains these herbs is very beneficial. You can also take your child for a drive – parents have been doing this for years and it really seems to work in most cases. You should also try and keep track of when these attacks occur, because you can then schedule some play time or some other activity that might take your child's attention off his discomfort.
