Stretch marks remedies Stretch marks are a kind scarring of the skin and these marks are usually silvery in colour. They are common to both men and women and are caused when the dermis is stretched in a very rapid fashion. Despite the skin being elastic, rapid stretching usually leaves permanent scars upon your skin.
Stretch marks usually appear because of weight gain which could be due to pregnancy or exercising in a gym with weights. In the beginning stages, stretch marks are usually a red-purple kind of colour which in time becomes light and silver. Although they can appear anywhere on the body, stretch marks usually appear in places where lots of fat is stored such as the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.
Stretch marks cannot be removed except by surgery but they can be lightened using a number of home remedies. You should rub cocoa butter on the areas that have stretch marks because this is said to lighten them. You can also rub vitamin E on your skin daily to lighten the marks. After your bath, break open a vitamin E capsule and rub the contents on the marks. Allow it to seep into your skin naturally and apply it again after your next bath. You can also take measures to ensure that you do not develop stretch marks such as maintaining a healthy diet and not putting on weight. You should also drink a lot of water as this helps the skin maintain its elasticity.
