Weight loss tips

I want to reduce weight as I am overweight.
(23 Apr 2008)

Obesity is one of the most common, yet underrated, medical conditions that exist amongst people all over the world today. Unfortunately, a number of obese individuals will only realize the amount of discomfort and effects it has on the body once they have already reached an advanced stage. The most common reason of obesity is the inclination to consume foods of higher calorie content than required by the body on a daily basis.

These surplus calories will be converted into fat and if the energy imbalance were to continue for a long time and continuously build up, obesity is the end result. Obesity is also said to be a condition that runs in families, but considering that members of the same family are likely to have the same patterns of food consumption as well as physical activity, it is hard to prove this theory. The body mass index, commonly known as the BMI, plays an important role in identifying the level of obesity as well as the steps taken to control the condition. It is a calculation that compares the weight of your body to your height and a BMI of over 30 is considered to be obesity.

Losing weight is not an easy task and requires a significant amount of physical contribution as well as mental focus. A number of people realize that obesity is a problem in their lives and needs to be taken care of, as a result of a lack of focus and commitment; they tend to stop attempting the recovery half way trough the process. Do not expect an overnight change in your body as, since it had taken a constant build up of calories to reach this state, it is likely to take as long, if not more, to reverse the process. First and foremost, choose the foods you eat very carefully. Quit obviously – you need to cut out the consumption of any foods that have high fat content. You should try to consume only as much as 25% of the body’s calorie requirement from non saturated fat. Increase your intake of dietary fiber, which is filling, making you eat much less. Fruits, vegetables and wholegrain cereals should make up the bulk of your consumed food. Exercise is a very essential part of effective weight loss. It helps burn any excessive calories at faster rates than if you were to simply follow dietary changes. While some people choose to purely change their diet and other may tend to focus only on the physical exertion aspect, it is a combination of both that tends to show the best and fastest results.

Weight loss tips

There are various natural ways to lose fat. You can begin with drinking a glass of hot water with half a lime squeezed into it and a teaspoon of honey mixed in first thing in the morning. This will show you effective results in as little as a week. Hot water and lime melt lipids instantly and honey only adds to the positive effect. Another effective way to burn fat is to have green tea. You can try to replace your morning cup of tea or coffee with this, so you cut back on caffeine in your system and lose fat from the body. Sipping warm water all day will also help considerably in loosening lipids and lessening fat in your body.

You will need to change your diet and lifestyle. You can do this slowly, but you will notice the difference. Switch to brown rice from white, and have it once a week. Choose yogurt over ice cream. Once a week, stay on a diet of only fruits and vegetables. These are simple and subtle changes, but they will make a significant difference to your overall effort to lose weight and, more importantly, keep it off. You must work out a routine of simple aerobic exercise for 30 minutes daily. If you are unable to do aerobic exercise, you can take a brisk walk for at least 30 minutes every day. You can start with walking for 10 minutes first and gradually work your way up to 30 minutes. This will take you a week, at most.
