Headache natural remedies

A headache that persists for over a week is usually a grave sign of some other problem. You are better off getting medical a medical examination that could tell you the exact nature of the problem leading to your headaches. If you have not had a headache for such a long period of time, you can begin by sleeping in a calm and quiet environment. One of the most effective methods to employ is using aromatherapy to ease your headache. The essential oils of lavender, sandalwood and eucalyptus are especially effective in working towards calming a pounding head. You can pour a few drops of these oils on a sachet and keep it under your pillow, or burn incense or essential oil votives of these fragrances in and around the room where you spend the most time.

You must also try to exercise for at least 30 minutes daily. If you are unable to do anything else, you can go for a brisk walk outdoors. Exercise helps to release “happy hormones” known as endorphins, which will help in reducing any ache or pain, and will also improve the general condition of your health, circulation and skin. Headaches can also be a result of dehydration. Make it a point to drink lots of water when you have a headache. Avoid fried and spicy food, and try to stick to a fat free, oil free and high fibre diet as much as possible. This will clear up your system, and rid you of a headache based in indigestion.
