Lump in throat advice

If you have the feeling that there is a lump lodged in your throat, the first thing to do is determine what has caused this lump to occur. Only then can you work towards finding a good remedial measure to take care of it. Usually, a lump in your throat occurs when the sphincter muscle in the throat is suddenly tightened hard.

This acts almost like a spasm and the muscle freezes up for a while, causing a feeling like a lump in the throat.

Sometimes, when you suddenly and inadvertently gulp down a large piece of food, or even air, then you could get this lumpy feeling. In such cases, the best thing to do is rest the muscle, because actually there is no lump or anything, it is just a momentary injury to the muscle which will heal itself within a few hours.

You must also try to talk less when this happens, as that will aid in faster healing. Another one of the major causes for this is that you have the problem of acid reflux, in which the sphincter muscle in your throat is trying to stop the regurgitation of the acid for you. This movement is sometimes too rushed and sudden, thus causing the muscles to freeze and cause the lump in the throat. Again, rest is the only answer here as well.
