Flatulence home remedies The two main causes of gas or flatulence are swallowing air when talking, eating, or drinking, and production of gas inside the digestive system as a result of indigestion or as a natural part of the digestive process for certain types of food.
One simple way to reduce gas is therefore to eat more carefully, and avoid talking too much when chewing and swallowing food. It is also better to avoid aerated drinks, as these obviously introduce gas into your digestive system.
You should also reduce your intake of foods that cause gas, such as beans, garlic, wheat, and potatoes. To some extent this varies from individual to individual, so you will need to see what works for you. Lactose intolerance is also a common cause of flatulence, so try stopping consumption of milk for a few days and see if there is any improvement. On the other hand, you can also see if it helps to consume yogurt daily, as the good bacteria in yogurt can help the digestive system to function properly.
If you have a particularly severe problem with gas, there may be some medical condition that is causing it, in which case these measures will not be sufficient and you will need to visit a doctor.
