Natural Treatment for Tooth Infection

It is difficult to give you a precise answer because a tooth infection can be caused by a number of factors. You could have an infection because of tooth decay or even because of an abscess in the tooth. An abscess occurs when pus collects in the middle of a tooth.

This infection can also go to the bones that hold the tooth in place. One of the common symptoms of an infection due to an abscess is a swelling that occurs near an infected tooth and an incredibly painful toothache. You will also experience pain while you are chewing food, halitosis, and possibly fever as well.

There are a number of things that you can do to treat this at home. You can start by applying a hot compress on the affected area. This will help bring the swelling down and the heat will help draw out the pus. You can also use a cold compress to numb the pain and make the swelling lesser. You can use a saltwater rinse to soothe your tooth ache and draw the pus out of the abscess.  It is also beneficial to mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water as a rinse to kill the bacteria causing the infection. If your pain persists for longer than a few days, please ensure that you see a dentist at once.
