Natural Treatment for Sun Burn

The symptoms of sunburn are pain and reddening of the skin in the areas that were burnt, sometimes accompanied by nausea and fever, and usually followed by itching and peeling of the skin. Usually, all that is needed is to keep the skin hydrated and avoid the sun till the skin heals. Except in severe cases, no more treatment is needed, and the skin heals on its own in a couple of weeks.

Preferably you should stay in bed for at least the first few days, drink lots of water, and you should also apply aloe gel to the skin. A cold compress also soothes the skin and keeps it moist.

You should be very careful about sunburn in the future.

Avoid spending long periods of time out in the sun, particularly in the middle of the day when the sun is highest in the sky. Whenever you know that you are going to be out in the sun for a long time, use an appropriate sunscreen, or better still, cover yourself adequately. Sunburn is usually a minor problem, but in rare cases it can be severe enough to even require hospitalization. More importantly, sunburn increases your risk of developing skin cancer later in life.
