The best cure for black eyes is to rest them as much as you can. If they do not have to work too much, they will be cured more easily. So try to keep them closed as much as you can.


If you can spend that much time sleeping, your body will also rest, which will help your eye to rest right along with it. For relief from the intense pain that accompanies a black eye, apply a simple ice pack to it. This will slow down circulation to the area and will help to ease the pain considerably. Besides, ice packs will also serve to lighten the discoloration. Alternately, you can also use a chilled used tea bag or chilled cucumber slices for the same purpose. This will have a similar effect.

You must avoid taking pain killers, as these will only temporarily suppress the pain and not really contribute towards healing of any kind. Once the effect of the pain killer has worn off, you will find that your condition is worse off. Witch hazel has healing properties of all kinds of abrasions and lesions. Soak a cotton pad in witch hazel and keep it on your eye for a while. The contribution to healing will be almost dramatic. You can also do the same thing with tincture of arnica, which will heal well and quickly.
