Toothache remedies

The only way to kill a nerve so that a tooth can stop hurting is to opt for a root canal. However, it is essential for you to find out first why your tooth is hurting. It is possible that the nerve has nothing to do with it, in which case you will have opted for a painful surgical procedure quite needlessly.

If your tooth has been in pain for more than a week, it is absolutely imperative that you consult a dentist who can determine what the problem is. This will give you a better idea as to what needs to be done.

For general toothache, there are some simple home remedies you can follow.

Clove oil is the best solution for taking care of any problem associated with toothache. You can apply it directly to the aching tooth, which will help to ease the pain. You can also dip a small, tight wad of cotton in clove oil and place this on your tooth. This will provide relief as long as it is kept there. Another effective remedy is to keep a chilled used tea bag on the tooth. This will draw out any pus, if that is causing the pain.
