Home Cures for Toe Nail Fungus The problem of fungus in toenails is caused due to wearing clothing on your feet for prolonged periods of time which make them sweat excessively. This sweat then collects and causes fungal infections. A fungal infection can lead to a dirty brown color coating over your nails.
In severe cases, it can also lead to your nails becoming twisted and generally disfigured. The most effective way to take care of toenail fungus is to use tea tree oil on it. Applying tea tree oil in the fastest and most effective way to kill any kind of fungus instantly. You can soak your feet in hot water to which a few drops of tea tree oil have been added for a good 20 minutes. This will be of great help. You can also apply thick layers of tea tree oil under your toenails before going to bed and wear socks over it.
Once you have managed to kill the infection, it is time to take care of the cosmetic damage done to your nails. If your nails have become darker, you would need to work at lightening them back to their original color. This can be done by soaking your nails in a solution of three parts water and one part hydrogen peroxide or organic vinegar. You can also squeeze a lime into it. All of these substances are natural bleaches, which will lighten the color of your nails considerably.

Toenail fungus natural remedies Vinegar is the best home remedy for toenail fungus — what you need to do is soak your feet in a bucket of vinegar and water for fifteen minutes to half an hour daily, for at least a week. You should file the top of the affected nail before soaking your feet, so that the solution is able to penetrate the nail better and reach the nail bed, which is where the infection really is. If you have the time, you can even do this twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Be sure to dry your feet thoroughly after you are done soaking them.
This applies to bathing as well, as the fungus thrives on moisture. Never put on your shoes and socks immediately after bathing or soaking your feet. Give them at least fifteen minutes to dry. In addition, you should change your socks daily, and if possible alternate between two pairs of shoes too. If this treatment does not work within a week or ten days, you should visit your doctor. It might be necessary to remove the nail in order to treat the infection effectively. As mentioned before, the infection is under the nail, on the nail bed.
