Sore throat natural remedies

I have a sore throat when I wake up and go to sleep but not during the day! An itchy throat that makes me cough up a little phlegm sometimes! Some congestion but not a lot! This has been going on for 2 or 3 days.

Sore throat natural remedies

The reason you are not having too many problems during the day and more at night is because generally congestion affects people more strongly at night. This is not unusual and nothing to worry about either. It is quite easy to take care of a sore throat at home.

There are several remedies available in the kitchen. Ginger is specially recommended to heal sore throats. You can suck on a piece of dried ginger all day for relief.

Alternately, you can also have ginger candy. Prepare a mix of equal parts of honey and ginger juice and have three teaspoons of this a day. All of these remedies will help to ease the soreness.

Make a decoction of a teaspoon each of powdered cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, ginger and powdered sugar. A teaspoon of this mixture taken twice a day with honey or warm water will help ease congestion and heal a sore throat. For soreness due to incessant coughing, tuck a clove or a cardamom in your cheek and leave it there. This will lessen the cough and provide relief from congestion too. Make a mix of warm water, four teaspoons of honey, a quarter teaspoon of common salt and the juice of half a lime and have this twice a day. A glass of hot milk taken with a pinch each of turmeric and pepper powder every night will help you to sleep peacefully and will heal you from within as well.
