Advice and Cures for Leg Swelling If you having this unique problem of your legs staying swollen after taking water pills, then you should know that the water pills are not working the way you want them to. For most part, these are administered as diuretics and serve the purpose of flushing out extra salt content from your body. It is extra salt which leads to conditions such as edema and general water retention.
Normally, swollen legs are a condition which is treated using water pills. So, if you are faced with the problem persistently even after you are taking the pills, this clearly indicates that the problem lies elsewhere.
If you have been prescribed water pills for some problem, then you should go back to your doctor with this symptom. Maybe you need a change of medication to take care of the problem. If you are self administering, it is necessary that you stop taking water pills at once. If there is some reason you are taking the pills, you can consult a doctor to determine if there is anything else you can take for the same problem. Sometimes, people also take water pills for weight loss. This is wrong and totally ineffective, because while you may experience temporary weight loss, this will not really make a significant difference in the long run. Moreover, you will regain the weight in a day or two after you stop taking water pills.

Swollen leg remedies I'm not sure exactly what you mean by a waterpill — are you referring to a diuretic pill, used to increase the frequency and flow of urination? Are you taking diuretics as a treatment for swollen legs, or are you taking the diuretics for some other condition and experiencing the symptom of swollen legs as a side effect? You have not provided enough information to go on. Whatever the case may be, it will be best if you consult your doctor about this problem, especially if you have been taking the pills without a prescription. Even if you have been prescribed the diuretics, you should ask the doctor who prescribed them about why they are not working (or why you are experiencing this side effect). Swelling of the legs can have a number of possible causes, and even if the cause is water retention, there are several possible treatments available. Diuretics do not work for all cases of water retention, so you may need to try some other options. There are also many different types of diuretics, and each type works differently. Whatever the case may be, it is best not to experiment with the treatment on your own, as there are several serious disorders that can cause the legs to swell.
