Yeast infection home remedies Yeast infections occur primarily in women who are of child bearing age and the majority of these infections occur because of a type of yeast known as Candida albicans. This and other types of yeast are naturally present in the vagina and when there is an imbalance of these in the vagina, it results in a yeast infection. The imbalance may be caused because of a number of things such the hormonal changes preceding the menstrual cycle, tight clothing that does not allow the genital area to breathe, and various medications.
There are a number of simple home remedies that you can use to treat and cure your yeast infection. Yogurt is amongst the most effective remedies for yeast infection. You can apply it directly to your vagina or you can immerse a tampon in curd and insert this into your vagina and allow it to remain for a little while.
The bacteria in the yogurt will counteract the harmful bacteria in the vagina and cause the infection to reduce. You should use this remedy at least a few times each day. You should also drink a few glasses of buttermilk until you recover from the infection. Ensure that you keep your vaginal area clean and dry and wear loose cotton clothes that allow the air to circulate in this area.
