Medication for children

There are some simple ways to giving your child medicine. Most pharmacies these days carry what is called medicine flavouring. You can choose from a vast variety of flavours that are popular with children, such as grape, cherry, bubble gum, strawberries and blueberries.

Usually, the taste of these flavourings is incentive enough for the child to take the medicine. It will work better and far more effectively if you actually take the child with you to the pharmacy and make him pick the flavour. This will make him more interested in the medication as well. If this option is not available to you, then you would have to try and come up with a creative method of getting the child to take medication.

In most cases, bribery is the best route to follow. Don't think about the fact that you may be spoiling the child and giving in to him. Remember that giving the medication is not a permanent problem. For a few days, for the duration of the illness of the child if you have to bribe them, it is perfectly fine to do so. Once the child is fully recovered from the illness, you can go back to your disciplining ways.
