Eye Cleansing Advice
If you have an eye infection, the best way to clean your eyes, is to wash them using a bowl of warm water to which a pinch or two of salt has been added. In case you have matter crusted to your eye lids or the surrounding area, dab a little warm water over the entire eye and let it soak in for a couple of minutes. This will help to soften the matter and you will be able to wash it off with warm water.
In case of extensive crusting, soak a clean cotton pad in a warm saline solution and place it over the eye for about twenty minutes before washing it off. Make sure that you clean your eyelids and eye lashes well as they are a common breeding zone for bacteria.
You can also use this saline solution on a daily basis to keep your eyes clean and problem free.
Although there are various cosmetic cleansers in the market today, I suggest that you go in for natural products instead. You can place a handful of parsley in a cup of boiling water and let it steep for fifteen minutes or so. This decoction will not only help to keep microbial growth under control but it will also eliminate puffiness around the eyes.
