Phlegm home remedies When you suffer from some kind of infection, the lining of your throat is irritated and secretes mucous. Very often this mucous is thick and gathers in your throat and in your nose cavities. This is known as phlegm.
Phlegm can cause your nose to feel constantly blocked up and make normal life difficult. If you have been suffering from phlegm for some time you should consult your doctor.
There are a variety of home remedies that you can try, in order to get rid of the phlegm clogging your throat and nose. Naturally enough, inhalation is one of the most popular and easiest of such remedies. While it is easy to inhale the plain steam that rises from something hot, it makes a lot of sense to add something medicinal – for instance, eucalyptus oil, to the hot water. That way, you will be inhaling something medicinal.
You can also make some fairly easy decoctions to help get rid of the phlegm. Ginger is very effective when treating colds and is sure to help you remove the phlegm. Peel and then grate an inch long piece of fresh ginger. Boil it in one cup of water till the water is reduced to half. Adding a few holy basil leaves is optional. Strain the decoction. While adding honey is optional, it makes the drink nicer and healthier.
