RLS is a short form of restless leg syndrome. This is a neurological disorder that is characterized by aching, pain, pins, twitching and burning in legs. The condition gets worse during night and after prolonged sitting.


The leg needs mobilization.

Researches and studies are not sure about the causes but some doctors believe that it is due to iron deficiency and reduced blood circulation to the nerves of muscles. These conditions are found in pregnant mothers, smokers, drinkers and people who are addicted to caffeine.

The best way to get rid of restless leg syndrome is physical exercise such as cycling, swimming, walking and jogging. These physical exercises help in improving blood circulation to the muscle nerve and also discourage attacks.

Your dietary and nutritional habits also play a vital role in improving or worsening the condition of RLS. Consuming iron rich foods such as dried fruits, green leafy vegetables, red meat, pumpkin seeds, parsley and poultry are useful for curing RLS. Consuming tea within two hours of your meal inhibits the absorption of iron in the body. Thus, you should also avoid tea within the recommended time interval. Avoiding intake of coffee, excess sugar, sweeteners, colas and chocolates is also beneficial for treating restless leg syndrome.
