Home Treatment for Tapeworm

Parasitic adult flatworms called cestodes or woods are the source of infection. Eating food or drinking water contaminated with the egg and larvae of tape worm results in infection. Symptoms are not visible initially, making the individual unaware of the infection.

They are either ingested as eggs, which later develop into larvae or ingested as larvae which grow into adult worms. Treatment is complicated, when the infection spreads to other parts of the body from the intestine.

Good hygiene is important to prevent worms. Washing of vegetables and fruits with the removal of the waxy coating on them is helpful. Pure, boiled and clean water is consumed. Thorough cooking is essential, especially animal foods. Improper cooking procedure results in infection from the food. Raw and uncooked animal foods are not consumed. Worms are checked for, in fishes. Keeping the environment clean is important. Pumpkin seeds are effective at home level, for getting rid of tape worms. Fresh cloves are effective against all kinds of worms. This is attributed to the chemical component, allicin in garlic. Coarsely chopped or grated carrots prove beneficial in worm treatment.
