Stretch mark remedies Purple streaks on the skin may occur if the skin is stretched as in the case of rapid weight gain. These lines are commonly referred to as `Stretch marks,' and are generally associated with pregnancy and weight gain. The structure of the skin gets affected by a rapid reduction in the collagen level.
This results in stretch marks to appear on the skin. In the initial stages, the lines are pink and gradually turn purple in color. This indicates a rupturing in the small blood vessels and shows up as purple lines on the outer layers of the skin.
The real cause of stretch marks has not been established so far.
If the stretch marks are new and not faded yet, the use of a body brush or loofah will help while bathing. Gently scrub on the affected areas. This will help loosen up the skin and in removing the dead skin cells from the surface of the stretch marks. The new skin will take on the natural color of your complexion.
Drink plenty of water as it keeps the skin well hydrated and enhances the elasticity of the skin. The intake of fluids also helps in preventing the occurrence of stretch marks. Also use a moisturizer to maintain a supple and soft skin. A healthy skin can help stave off the purple lines. Consume a well-balanced and nutritious diet to prevent from putting on more weight. It is important to watch the food you eat., as weight gain is the primary cause for the appearance of stretch marks. The use olive oil, cod liver oil or vitamin E oil to massage the affected area is considered beneficial. Exercise regularly to tone your body. The application of cocoa butter on the affected area is also a very useful remedy. It is advisable to consult a dermatologist to get appropriate guidance on the nature of your skin problem.
