Natural remedies for Dark Circles
Dark circles under the eyes can be a result of nutritional deficiencies, lack of sleep, stress, hormonal problems, anemia, allergies, genetics, fluid retention or dehydration. Thinning skin due to ageing could also be the problem but since you say you have had them since you were a child that is probably not it.
Here are some tried and tested remedies for treating dark circles:
- First check to see if you are allergic to ay of the foods that you eat on a regular basis.
If you also sneeze and have a wheezing problem frequently, an allergy is a possibility. Try and maintain a food diary and by the process of elimination arrive at foods that may be bothering you. Take these out of your diet and see if there is any benefit - Try and drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day
- Needless to say, sleep is essential to help regenerate tissue.
So mke sure to get at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night - Wear a sunscreen cream of SPF at least 30 to help prevent darkening and damage from the sun.
- Wet some plain tea bags ( not herbal ones) and place them over closed eyelids for 10-15 minutes every day. You can also use cucumber or potato slices in the same way
- Apply Vitamin K cream to the under eye area. It is known to help with bruising
- Take a vitamin supplement to help cover up any nutritional deficiencies
Nothing is a substitute for good sleep, a healthy diet and moderate exercise. Try and get all of the above and hopefully your dark circles will get better.
