High Fever Natural Cure

One of the most frightening things for a parent to is find a child with a high fever. However, a fever in itself is not a cause for concern and actually is a good thing as it indicates that the body is fighting off infections. Ensure the child has a lot of fluids to combat dehydration which is caused due to the fever.

Water, lemon juice and soup are good options, however, caffeine containing fluids such as colas or even teas should be avoided. Another good option is to use herbal teas using a mixture of Thyme for its antiseptic properties and chamomile for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Cool compresses can also help a great deal in lowering a fever. The compresses can be applied to the forehead, wrists or calves. The evaporating compresses cause a cooling effect. The compresses need to be changed when they reach body temperature and should be continued until the temperature drops. Avoid using any alcohol as although it evaporates faster, it can be absorbed through the skin or its vapors can be inhaled and this could be harmful. Remember also to dress your child with light clothes. Overdressing restricts the escaping body heat and leads to a further increase in temperature.
