Home remedies for toenail fungus
I have a black area under my left big toe nail about 1 cm long and about .5cm wide. Haven't been in an accident or had anything fall on the toe to cause this. What might be the cause of this? Thank you, Mark

Treat Toenail Fungus Naturally
Fungus infections affect damp moist places and especially find a great breeding ground beneath finger nails or toe nails. You may notice that the affected nail would be bigger and thicker than the normal nails. This type of fungus strikes the nail bed eventually leading to aggravated pain and inflammation in the particular area.
Factors favoring the growth of fungal infections include ill fitting tight shoes, long periods of clamping the foot in shoes without having the opportunity to let the foot breathe in the open, wet feet enclosed in shoes for a long period of time etc.
You can try a popular home remedy used by many to treat stubborn nail fungus. Take a cup of diluted vinegar add to this a teaspoon of bleaching powder and two teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide.
Mix well and soak the infected toe mail in this solution for 15 minutes. You must do this on a daily basis till you begin to notice a marked decrease in the discoloration of the nail. The essential oil of tea tree is also an amazing fungicidal and antibacterial. Tea tree oil can be applied directly on to the affected nail. This oil must be put on the affected part every night till the fungus begins to fie out.
