Raisins health benefits

The phenols found in this dried form of fruit raisins have potent antioxidant benefits which help to scavenge free radicals from the body and decrease the oxidative stress. Other compounds known as flavaniods are least affected (the percentage of phenols declines after the drying process to some extent) also have potent health benefits. Raisins are also rich in trace mineral, boron which is critical to health.

It has an important role to play in the conversion of vitamin D and estrogen to their most active form and thus plays a major role in female bone health – osteoporosis. Raisins promote oral health despite being sweet and sticky; it prevents any gum disease and cavities in teeth. The phytonutrients mainly oleanolic acid in raisins are very potent in killing the bacteria that cause cavities and dental diseases. Raisins are a sweet way to satisfy your sweet tooth without compromising on your dental health. Including raisins in your diet also helps to protect your vision and provides protection against macular degeneration. So go ahead and add raisins in your morning cereals, fruit yoghurt and salads to make meals nutritious and interesting.
