Please suggest remedy for Excessive sweating in palm and feet.

Body heat is regulated by sweating. Harmful toxic substances are also released by sweating. Care s essential, as excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis results in electrolyte imbalance.


The sympathetic nervous system regulates the process of sweating. When sweating is in excess, more than that is necessary for heat regulation of the body, is referred to as hyperhidrosis.

It is categorized into two, namely primary or essential and secondary.


The former has no causative factor, whereas the latter is due to an underlying condition, such as obesity, endocrine disorders or menopause.

Patients with secondary hyperhidrosis, calls for immediate attention, as the treatment for the underlying condition are taken care of first. Antiestrogens are recommended for cancer patients on hormonal therapy. Topical application of 20 to 25 per cent alluminium chloride in 70 to 90 per ecnt alcohol is effective.

Iontophoresis is a procedure involving low intensity electric current. This is recommended for several weeks. Usage of botulinum toxin is under research. It is an expensive procedure. Anticholinergic drugs are recommended for individuals with excessive sweating in the trunk. Hypnosis is an effective remedy when done under experts. Surgery involving removal of the sweat glands is opted for. But, the latter results in heavy scarring and other issues.
