Alternative cures for tinnutis

Tinnitus is basically a condition that affects more than 50 million adults in the US alone, commonly identified by a buzzing sound heard inside and sometimes even outside the ear. In Subjective Tinnitus, only the patient can hear the buzzing or hissing sounds in the ear often in tandem with the heartbeat, but in the rarer condition Objective Tinnitus, even the person next to the patient can hear the sounds. Obviously disturbing, in severe cases it can interfere with concentration at work and even sleep.

Tinnitus is commonly caused by nerve damage, but it can also be due to structural damage of the ear, aging, noise pollution, and even the persistent presence of wax or any other foreign particle in the ear.

Treatment for Tinnitus thus differs depending on the cause. It is crucial to keep your ears clean and wax-free.

Try to avoid frequent exposure to loud noise and if unavoidable, wear earplugs or earmuffs to reduce its effects. Depending on when you hear the sounds, modify your habits to drown out the buzzing sounds. For instance, if it interferes with your sleep, let a tape of running sounds such as that of water, or any soothing music play by your bedside through the night. It is also important to lead a relatively stress-free and relaxed lifestyle. Practice deep-breathing techniques to calm yourself and regulate your breathing. Avoid saturated fats, sugar, caffeine and alcohol since they aggravate the condition. Eat a protein and vitamin rich diet with lots of fresh food and raw fruits which help to increase circulation.
