Natural remedies for muscle cramps

Muscle cramps are generally caused due to over exertion and dehydration. The main remedy used to alleviate the pain caused by cramps is to gently massage the leg or stomach and stretch the muscle slowly. Applying a hot pad or ice, whichever is preferred, also helps to improve blood circulation and relaxes the muscle.

Even taking a hot water bath helps reduce cramps, but make sure the bath water is heated only as much as you can bear without pain. One of the main reasons for leg cramps is the imbalance of electrolytes in the body. Drinking lemon juice dissolved in water with salt and sugar helps restore the balance to normal.

You could also try consuming a clove of raw garlic everyday for a period of two months to avoid the cramps.

To successfully remedy stomach cramps it is essential to chew your food well, as food mixed well with saliva is better digested. Avoid drinking your fluids too fast and stay away from cola and coffee as they only aggravate the cramps. A useful home remedy to combat stomach cramps is to consume a lot of fiber, as it aids bowel movement. Foods like high fiber cookies and bananas help cut down the occurrence of stomach cramps in half.
