Carpal Tunnel Syndrome home treatment

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a progressive trauma disorder that develops over a long period of time and is caused by repeated stressful movements of your hand. What essentially happens in this condition is that the tendons tend to swell up and compress or press down on the median nerve to your hand. This compression causes a great deal of pain. The main symptoms of the condition include a burning or tingling sensation in the hands, numbness in the hands, and weakness. Carpal tunnel syndrome tends to affect women almost twice as much as it does men and usually occurs between the ages of 40-60.

The best way to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome is to ensure that you take plenty of breaks in between activities that are repetitive in nature like writing or using a computer. You should get up from your workstation and do some spot exercises that will get your body into a better position and allow it to de-stress. Apply ice packs on the affected areas to bring down the swelling. You should use a splint to ensure that your hand remains as straight as possible. It is important to remember that these symptoms could also be an indication of arthritis and that you should consult your doctor for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
