An abscessed tooth is basically observed as a highly painful infection that is commonly found between the gum and the tooth or at the root of the tooth. One of the main tooth abscess causes is tooth decay followed by other causes such as gum disease, trauma to the tooth in the form of a chipped or broken tooth. Some of the common symptoms and signs of an abscess tooth are a toothache that is continuous and severe which results in a sharp, gnawing, throbbing pain.
Some other signs of an abscess tooth are pain when chewing, fever, sensitivity to hot or cold, a bitter taste in the mouth, swollen neck glands, swollen area of the lower or upper jaw, redness and swelling of the gums and so on. Abscess tooth relief can be provided by draining the abscess through a procedure that is known as a root canal. Once the root canal is done a crown may be placed over the tooth to prevent future infections. In some severe cases, the tooth may also have to be extracted. Another way of gaining abscess tooth relief is to drain the abscess my making an incision into the swollen gum tissue itself. A tooth abscess home treatment would involve placing a dry black teabag or even a small piece of a raw potato against the sore tooth inside the cheek and let is remain there for a few hours or even overnight depending on one’s comfort levels. This home remedy will help minimize the pain and swelling. Another natural treatment for an abscessed tooth is to mix half a teaspoon of cooking salt and half a teaspoon of baking soda and then dip some wet cotton in this mixture. You should then stuff this cotton in your mouth between the cheek and the infected tooth. This pack should be repeated every couple of hours and it will gradually drain the gum boil. Another way of handling a tooth abscess is to gargle one’s mouth with some tea tree oil or even some hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash so as to disinfect the inflamed area. In some cases there may be some discharge from the abscess and even pus may come out. In such cases one should brush their teeth with a baking soda or peroxide toothpaste. After rinsing the mouth take a cotton ball and soak it in some hydrogen peroxide and place this cotton on the opened and discharging abscess. Make sure to visit the dentist as soon as you observe any signs of toot abscess. This is necessary in order to avoid unnecessary complications.

Abscess tooth home remedies
An abscess is a small spot filled with pus. If you have an abscessed tooth, then I assume you mean that you have developed pus close to a tooth. Leaky fillings, badly filled teeth, even damage from a fall or other injury cause an abscess. Although the abscess is only a tiny bag of pus, it can affect various parts of your body and therefore it is imperative that you visit the doctor at the earliest.
However, till you actually get to the doctor, you could try some home remedies. Peel a small onion. Chop off a small piece from the onion. Now place it over your abscessed tooth. The pain will recede. When you feel that the abscessed tooth is hurting again, bite the onion. You can also soak a piece of cotton in some clove oil and place this on the abscessed tooth.
Mix on teaspoon of salt in one glass of water. Use this to gargle. Do this as often as you want to. You can peel a clove of fresh garlic, lightly mash it with the back of a spoon, and then place it over the affected area. You can also try packing some ice in a bag and holding this to the affected area.
