Remedy for varicose veins

A varicose vein is a condition that refers to weakened veins that can no longer circulate and return blood to the heart at a normal, healthy pace. For varicose veins and relief from the pain of varicose veins, try the following home remedies:

  • Wear support hose or stockings because they provide relief from pain.
  • Wear comfortable shoes; avoid shoes with heels.
  • Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes.
  • Research says that smoking is related to varicose veins. So if you smoke, this is the best time to quit.
  • Keep a tab on your weight. If you weigh more, the excessive body weight can add extra pressure to your legs and aggravate those varicose veins. This is the reason why pregnant women often suffer from varicose veins.
  • Take frequent walks and avoid sitting or standing in one place for a long duration. Some research has indicated that active adults have lower chances of suffering from varicose veins when compared to adults who have a sedentary lifestyle.
  • If possible, tilt your bed in such a manner that you raise the foot of your bed by several inches. This will help gravity work in your favor throughout the night by improving blood circulation through your legs.

However, if you have difficulty in breathing at the night or a history of heart problems, do consult your doctor before tilting your bed.
If the condition persists, you need to visit your doctor.
