Hot flashes or a sudden feeling of heat on your face and some parts of your body are caused by changes that your body is undergoing. Women usually experience hot flashes when they are going through menopause and their body is undergoing serious hormonal changes. However, if you are not at the age when you should be going through menopause, don’t worry.
Other factors like the lifestyle you lead and even some medications are also responsible for hot flashes.
Hot flashes are often accompanied by a feeling of dizziness. Some women also complain of a feeling of weakness, nausea or suffocation.
If the estrogen level in your body drops down due to any reason, this affects the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus controls the temperature in your body and when this is confused it affects the body temperature.
Hot flashes have been linked to stress and if you have been under a lot of stress it is no wonder that you have experienced hot flashes. What you can do is try to reduce the stress. Take some time to learn some relaxation techniques. If you have been under duress it is also likely that your caffeine intake has gone up. Excess caffeine, alcohol or spicy food can cause hot flashes. Cut down on caffeine, spicy food and adopt a low fat diet. Ensure that you are relaxed and that you get sufficient sleep and regular exercise.
