Blemish Treatment A zit or a pimple is basically a blocked pore. Dead skin cells sometimes block a pore along with the sebaceous gland inside the pore, leading to a build-up of sebum. After a while, bacteria collect inside the accumulated sebum, leading to an infection that is then fought by the body’s white blood cells.
Although this sounds quite simple, the causes of pimples are not very well understood and most treatments, both modern and traditional, have only limited success.
Unlike many people who suffer from severe, chronic acne, you seem to have only a minor problem. If this is the case, a little basic hygiene and some simple home remedies should do the trick.
First of all, you should be careful about touching the pimple. Don’t scratch, squeeze, or pluck at it. Wash your face regularly but gently, using only soap and water, and then apply an ice pack or a single ice cube for a couple of minutes. Avoid the sun as much as possible, especially if you find that it has a tendency to aggravate or cause pimples. In addition, try to relax. There is a scientifically proven link between stress and pimples.
Meanwhile, to hasten the healing process, you can apply tea tree oil to the pimple, and a couple of times a day gently rub a crushed clove of garlic against it.
