There is no particular cure as such for asthma. You can learn to control this condition. In order to discuss treatments for asthma, it is important to understand what asthma really is.
As you breathe, what happens is that the air you breathe in travels down the path from the nose (or even the mouth) down to the windpipe (which is also known as the trachea). The lungs then receive it from here. The bronchi refer to this collection of tubes which stem from your windpipe. Bronchioles in turn stem from the bronchi. It is through the bronchi that the air initially makes its way into the lungs. What you experience as an asthma attack is primarily due to the presence of some foreign particle or something that triggers your asthma when it meets either the bronchi or bronchioles. Airway inflammation can also obstruct your breathing. Unfortunately genetics has a hand in this condition. If you already have allergies you are more likely to develop asthma. More widely prevalent is allergic asthma. There are numerous possible triggers for this. Some of common ones are mold and dust mites. It could also be something you eat. The other case is non-allergic asthma. This has a lot to do with environmental factors such as the weather or something in the air such as smoke or a powerful cologne. It could be triggered by the person exercising or undergoing strong emotions. In fact, stress can also set off an attack.
The first step is an accurate diagnosis. The next is a comprehensive therapeutic plan. Your main focus should be the triggers. You have to find ways to keep these triggers out of your life or, at the very least, minimize your exposure. A lot of patients trust a peak flow meter. This can alert you to a possible attack. A journal can help you make note of the times and possible triggers that cause different attacks. You can also record the intensity of your reaction to these triggers. You might find relief in a hot bath with plenty of steam. Honey has proved helpful by consumption of a teaspoon in a glass of water. Not all home remedies work for everyone. Some could simply trigger an allergic reaction so check with your doctor first. Yoga has benefited a lot of asthma patients with its breathing exercises. Another option is massage therapy. If stress is the trigger, you can choose options like progressive muscle relaxation or biofeedback.

Asthma is an unfortunately common and chronic medical condition affecting the lungs and the airways, characterized by obstruction of the air flow, excessive and abnormal spasms in the bronchial tubes, as well as inflammation of the airways. The exact cause of asthma isn't yet known. Researchers think a combination of factors such as family genes and certain environmental exposures interact to cause asthma to develop, most often early on in life. Factors that have an inherited tendency to develop allergies include certain respiratory infections during childhood, coming in contact with certain airborne allergens or even an exposure to some viral infections in infancy or early childhood.
The most effective treatment for asthma is identifying triggers, such as pets or aspirin, and limiting or eliminating exposure to them. If trigger avoidance is insufficient, various treatments are available. Medical treatments available to patients include bronchodilators, which are recommended for short term relief, or low-dose inhaled glucocorticoids and theophylline. For those who suffer daily attacks, a higher dose of glucocorticoid in conjunction with a long-acting inhaled β-2 agonist may be prescribed.
There are also many natural remedies available to treat symptoms. Some natural remedies are thought to work by addressing the build-up of toxins in the patient’s body, which is caused by poor digestion, diet and nutrition, and by chemical imbalances. Natural herbs used to cure asthma include:
- Elecompane
- Mullein
- Licorice
- Turmeric
- Thyme
- Black Pepper
- Flax seed
- Antalkali ginger
- Yerba Santa
These herbs are readily available at most groceries and can be ingested raw or can be added to food when cooking it. Other natural remedies including magnesium, rosemary, thyme, cloves and chamomile have many antioxidants. Antioxidants like selenium, supplements of green tea and vitamin E have also shown signs of being helpful. Other natural cures for asthma include yoga, meditation, walking or other regular outdoor exercises, and simple breathing exercises.
Asthma is on the increase today because modern life has become increasingly hectic – it is therefore vital to take time out and find some personal space to detoxify from the stress and strains we face. Practices like yoga and/or meditation are perfect relaxants for the body and help loosen the breathing passageways, thus allowing better breathing that can prevent asthma attacks. Brisk exercise such a taking a long walk is also important, as the stimulus created can clear any blockages that you may have in your chest and lung areas.

Asthma natural cure Asthma is a condition which results in a sudden shortness of breath. You become, literally, breathless. This occurs when your bronchial tubes contract, blocking the free passage of air. Allergies of various kinds, dust, pollen, pollution are some of the reasons for the onset of an asthma attack.
- Of course, the best thing to ensure that you do not get an attack of asthma is to stay away from dust, from very cold places, strong smells, smoke.
- Avoid eating very heavy, oily food. It is always safe to eat early and to eat light at night. A cup of tea or coffee can give you some relief during an asthma attack.
- Make sure that you don't lie down in bed. Always sit up in bed during an asthma attack. You can sit up in a comfortable chair, propped with a couple of pillows or cushions. A hot water bottle generally helps to ease discomfort.
- Mix half a tablespoon of cinnamon powder with one whole tablespoon of honey. Eat this.
- A pinch of pepper powder also helps ease the discomfort. However, you may find it difficult to swallow this by itself. You can fold a pinch of pepper powder in a spoonful of brown sugar and eat this.
