Hemorrhoid tissues are present in each and every human being. The hemorrhoids are basically masses of tissue that are present in the anal canal. This tissue comprises of blood vessels and is usually surrounded by muscle and elastic fibers.

Normal hemorrhoid tissues are very important as they act as the barriers that help you control your bowel movement. On certain occasions everyone has experienced a bowel movement coming along and clenching up to make sure it doesn’t happen right there and then. Instances like these are where the hemorrhoid tissues had to work. However, when there is an abnormality, such as when they become enlarged, painful or itchy, they can be extremely uncomfortable. This condition is commonly known as “piles”. It is most commonly noticed amongst men and women between the ages of 45 – 65 years. Studies have shown that nearly 2/3 of the population of the Earth suffer as a direct result of abnormal hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can be a result of a number of factors. Straining to move stool, pregnancy, aging, diarrhea or chronic constipation as well as anal intercourse are the most common factors. Hemorrhoids can be of several different types, with varying degrees of severity. Internal hemorrhoids are where the inflammation of the veins are around the rectum occurring higher up in the anal canal, and are out of sight. Eternal hemorrhoids are very visible and occur outside the anus. These skin covered veins will appear ballooned and reflect a bluish color, but when inflamed will turn red and tender.

While hemorrhoids are not life threatening or severely dangerous, they can be extremely painful and can cause great disruption not only to your daily schedule but the overall quality of your life as well. Hemorrhoids usually tend to get worse over time, so the faster you observe it and treat it, the better it is going to be for you. The most common symptom for internal hemorrhoids is bright red spots covering the stool or toilet paper. External hemorrhoids can be diagnosed by noticing hard lumps around the anus. Some tips on living with the condition are to drink plenty of water to keep the stool soft, avoid spicy food as this will aggravate the bowels, and avoid lifting heavy objects. You can also drink chamomile tea everyday. Chopping pieces of garlic and onion very fine, leave for a couple of hours and apply this to the hemorrhoids. Mix passion fruit with warm water and apply to the affected area.

Hemorrhoids treatment

Hemorrhoids or Piles is a condition where the veins in the lower rectal area are inflamed.  Passing stools can be very painful during this condition, and in fact aggravates the problem since it increases the pressure on the veins which is the main reason for the condition. Chronic constipation and obesity are the main reasons for hemorrhoids. However it is also not uncommon to suffer from Piles during pregnancy due to the increased pressure on the lower abdominal area. This of course is a temporary condition that goes away after childbirth.

There are several home remedies for hemorrhoids, which includes drinking a glassful of pomegranate peels boiled in water in the morning and in the evening. Tamarind, pomegranate juice, ginger and coriander pastes mixed in yoghurt and consumed for lunch helps to soothe the pain caused by Piles. One can also prepare a juice with ½ tsp of ginger juice, ½ tsp lime juice, ½ tsp mint leaves juice with 1 tbsp honey and drink this once daily to cure Piles. The juice of turnip is also excellent, but must always be consumed along with spinach, watercress or carrots and never be consumed by itself. Apart from these remedies it is also important to avoid constipation-inducing foods, drink plenty of water and to regularly exercise, particularly to increase circulation in the abdominal area.
