Ringworm home remedies

Ringworm is a parasitic fungal infection of the skin, resulting in bumpy, ring-shaped, reddish patches on the body. As with many other fungal infections, vinegar is often quite useful in battling ringworm. Dab vinegar on the infected areas of your skin several times a day.

You can also try using castor oil or a paste made from mustard seeds or turmeric in the same way. However, although bleach, nail polish, and sulphur are often touted as natural cures and home remedies for ringworm (and may even be effective), you should avoid using them as they can harm the skin and also cause allergic reactions that sometimes turn out to be worse than ringworm itself. You can however use chlorine bleach to clean your bathroom floor, bath tub, and wash basin. These are places where ringworm fungi can thrive and spread.

In fact, any moisture provides a breeding ground for the ringworm fungi, so you should keep your body dry as well. Dry yourself after you bathe, apply some powder, and if necessary, even use a hair dryer to blow dry yourself, in particular in your armpits, toes, and the groin area. Dry yourself with a towel after you bathe and if the infection does not disappear within two weeks of using these remedies, you should consult your doctor.
