Information on painless labor

The castor oil method is used to induce labour but there is no proven effectiveness of this method. This method has not been well-researched, despite being used by many generations of women across the world, and yet seems to be relatively safe. The recommended dosage of castor oil ranges from 1 tablespoon to 4 ounces.

Because castor oil has a very unpleasant taste, you can try and hide the taste by combining it with ice cream or something that has a strong taste. After taking the castor oil, you are likely to develop severe diarrhoea and cramps. Contractions will often follow and most probably develop into labor.

The castor oil will be mostly likely be expelled before you begin to push out the baby, One side effect is that the diarrhoea might make you very sore and you might not be comfortable while pushing.

There is no evidence to suggest that the castor oil method will ensure a painless natural birth. In addition, it is thought that the castor oil can increase the chances of meconium passage to the infant. However, before inducing labour, ensure that your baby is ready to be born. Sometimes a woman might not go into labour on her due date because the baby might not have moved into a good position to be born. It is also highly recommended that if you want to induce labour that you should consult with midwife or doctor before trying this method.
